Homemade Carrot Oil

Updated: Mar 20, 2019

One day, while cleaning out my refrigerator, I cam across a few knobs of carrots that I really didn't want to throw away. I enjoy making hair products, amongst other things so I through of a way to put them to good use.

If you didn't know, there are many benefits of carrot oil

for you overall health and for, of course, your hair. It is full of vitamins A & E which for your hair promotes growth and prevents hair loss. It also can be used as a detoxifier of the blood, tissue, and joints as well be used to cure various kinds of infection (sores, ulcers, etc.). .

Making Carrot Oil or any oil for that matter, is actually pretty easy — well at least the way I've learned.

Things you will need:

1/4 Cup of Coconut Oil (or the carrier oil of your choice)

1/4 Cup of Olive Oil (or the carrier oil of your choice)

1 Whole Carrots

1 Bowl

1 Measuring Cup

1 Sauce Pan or Frying pan

1 Knife

1 Grater

1 Wooden Spoon

1 Strainer

1 Fork

1 Jar

Once you have all of your ingredients and materials together, the process is quite simple.

The Process:

  1. Using a knife, cut off the ends of your carrot

  2. Using a grater, shred your carrot and set it aside in your bowl

  3. Place your carrier oils into a sauce pan on low heat

  4. Once oil is heated, place the carrots in the oil

  5. Take a wooden spoon and make sure your carrots are covered with oil

  6. Leave on the stove for 20 minutes or so being sure to stir occasionally

You should soon begin to see the oil taking the color of the carrots. That's because the oils are taking the nutrients of the carrot.

  1. After 20 minutes take the oil off of the stove

  2. Place the strainer inside of the measuring cup

  3. Pour the oil into the measuring cup, being sure to allow the oil to pass through the strainer

  4. Once all oil has been passed, take your fork and press the carrots strains until all oil has been collected

  5. Let the oil sit for about 10 minutes

  6. Then, pour into a jar for safe keeping
