DEFINITION: to renew, repair

NOTE: Most people fail to see that when Yahuah said that He will make a new covenant with the House of Israel and the House of Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34 and referenced in Hebrew 8:8 that the word chadash ( חָדַשׁ) is used for the word "new" which means to renew, repair. Therefore, in actuality, he is saying that He will make a renewed covenant with them. Renew, according to Dictionary.com, means to resume after an interruption.

What is the interruption? Yeshua HaMashiach.

According to Isaiah 1:11-14 our sacrifices that were given to us through the Law of Moses were no longer pleasing to Yahuah because our sins were so great. Therefore, Hebrew 10:4-10 explains that every year our people would sacrifice to Yahuah but at the end, sin would remain. Yeshua came to show us how to fulfill the law by living holy and acceptable; a pleasing aroma to Yahuah. His sacrifice on the cursed tree was the ultimate sacrifice.

Therefore, when it says in Jeremiah 31:33-34, "But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." He is literally saying that the part of the covenant that required sacrifice will be no more. The laws, however, will remain and He will write them in their inward parts (mind), and write it in their hearts.

The laws are how you are identified as children of the Most High. See the article entitled "The Way..." to see what Yeshua meant when He said that He is the way, the truth, and the life. The law is definitely still applicable.
